June 24, 1964 – December 8, 2022
Charles Dean "Chuck" Duston, age 58, of Alvin, Texas was called to rest on December 8, 2022. Chuck was born on June 24, 1964 to Neoma and Duane Duston in Denver, Colorado. He made his way to Texas as fast as he could. He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted mother, his ever-present and steadfast father, and by his larger-than-life nephew, Andy Duston. Chuck is survived by his brothers, James and John Duston; their wives, Karen and Laura; step-mother, Lucy Duston; his niece, Kay Pierce; and nephews, Jeremy Duston, Tyler Duston, and Cody Duston. All of these humans listed encapsulated his world.
There has never been a more unique character than Chuck Duston. Ever. Without argument, Chuck embodied patience, familial devotion, and a love for pocket-knives more than any human. He adored turquoise, late-night talk radio, X-Box, black-and-white Westerns, and thousand island salad dressing. His family was always, always, always first. And then there was peanut butter. And we love him for all of it. Every last bit of who he is. He will be missed beyond measure.
It is important to note that Chuck had impact. He was always there, always present, and always there to offer an opinion. He knew things about this earthly world that most never recognized. He knew the ends and outs of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. He knew about dog breeds, recent world-happenings, and reality television. He was the best at knowing random facts. He was vulnerable and honest with the ones he held close; the ones who will miss him the most. Chuck was devoted to his family. He never missed a birthday party or Christmas morning. He laughed his iconic laugh—all the time. He watched and made astute observations. He adored his niece and nephews, and he endured many hours caring for them when they were young. And, boy howdy, did he endure.
Above all else, Chuck loved his mom, step-mother, and dad. He loved his memories, his childhood, and the safety he felt from his wonderful parents. He found his life’s work at Wal-Mart and was gainfully employed in Alvin for 20+ years. His niece and nephew visited him there often. He had robust conversations and fond, wonderful experiences with the colleagues he met there. He valued the friendships made with his friends to his core. A sincere thank you to those who served with him.
Chuck will be beyond missed. There is a hole in the hearts of those who loved him. No family gathering will be the same without him.
Friends are cordially invited to the memorial visitation with Chuck’s family on Saturday, December 17, 2022 from 9:00 to 10:00 am at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 North Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas (281-992-7200).
Interment will follow at a later date.
