In Loving Memory

Robert Wesley Collins

June 10, 1943 – November 27, 2022

Robert Wesley Collins passed away on the morning of Sunday, November 27, 2022, at the age of 79 in Houston, Texas after experiencing his tenth heart attack. His grandchildren believe that the reason his heart struggled so much is because he used all of its energy in loving them.

Robert is survived by, Alice, his wife of 59 years. Four sons and their wives, Robert “Bobby” (Dawn), Christopher “Chris” (Jeri), Richard “Rick” (Lisa Diane), and Julius “Michael” (Lisa Ann). Along with 23 grandchildren plus their spouses and 20 great grandchildren with more on the way. As well as his siblings, Bart Collins, George Collins, Robert Harrold, and Cheri Cunningham. He was preceded in death by his parents Noble and Jaqueline Collins and two grandchildren Rebekah and Christopher Collins.

His greatest joy was to share the Gospel and Love of Jesus with others. He was known for his generosity and larger-than-life stories. His love of life and sense of adventure was matched only by his pride and love for his family. Nothing made him happier than a new addition either through marriage or birth.

Robert was born on June 10, 1943 in Danville, Illinois where he spent the first part of his life waiting to marry Alice. The two were married on October 22, 1963 in a small ceremony in Rapid City, South Dakota and have spent the past 60 years enjoying adventures and eating ice cream together.

He honored his country by serving in the Marine’s, and then the Air Force, during which time he was stationed in Turkey. He then worked at NASA in Huntsville, Alabama and also served as a deputy with the Sheriff’s Department of Madison County, Alabama.

Robert was a life-long member of the Masonic Temple having joined the Demolay as a youth.  Robert spent time working with the Wycliffe Bible Translators in Columbia and Children’s Rescue Mission in Central America.

Be in heaven with god by your side.

  2. He was the most wonderful father a boy could have. I'm so thankful to have had him for so many years. I will never forget the love he showed me and the things we did together.
