Loretta May Hilligoss Murphy, 86, of Friendswood, Texas, formally of Tuscola, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022. She was born August 7, 1936 to Jerald D. Hilligoss and Dorothy McGuire Hilligoss in Tuscola, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack (Pete) H. Murphy; brother, Jim Hilligoss, and son Steve Murphy.
Loretta is survived by her son, Mark H. Murphy and wife Pam of Tuscola, Illinois; 3 grandchildren and their children.
She received a master’s degree from Eastern Illinois University and was a Special Education school teacher in Arcola, Illinois, La Porte, Texas and Friendswood, Texas. After retirement, she enjoyed being a real estate agent for O’Farrell Real Estate in Friendswood, Texas.
Loretta was very much loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Loretta was a very special and precious friend. She met every struggle, whether her own serious illnesses or those of family members, courageously and with devout faith. Never complaining. Always positive. She was ready for “my date with Jesus.” Love you, Loretta. Thanks for our friendship and all the memories. My prayers are with Mark, Pam and their children.
