February 11, 1927 – March 16, 2022
Chris Clifton “Mickey” Rehak, 95, of League City, TX and formerly of Newgulf, TX, passed away into the arms of the Lord on March 16, 2022.
Mickey served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. After an honorable discharge, Mickey attended Baylor University for 4 years. It was then that Mickey married the love of his life, Barbara Kain. Together they raised two daughters. Mickey served as a deacon in Newgulf Baptist Church and League City Bay Area Church for 51 years. For over 20 years, he taught Sunday School to high school boys. He served as church treasurer and song leader. He was BSA merit badge counselor. Mickey retired after working 35 years as an accountant for Texas Gulf Sulfur Company in Newgulf. He enjoyed playing golf, gardening, and fishing for “the next big catch” in Matagorda and Galveston bays. With his distinctive bass voice, Mickey was often asked to announce football and baseball games. He never met a stranger.
From his kind and generous heart to his wonderful sense of humor, Mickey created so much happiness in his time here. The footprints he left in our hearts and in our lives will be and remembered and cherished forever. He was loved by so many.
Mickey is survived by his loving wife Barbara Rehak of 71 years of League City, his two daughters Cynthia Rehak of League City, Patti Spencer and husband Stuart Spencer and their 3 children Allison Ellison and husband Jason Ellison plus their 3 children Emily, Nathan, Abigail of Cypress, Michael Spencer and wife Bridget Spencer plus their 3 children Hailey, Ryan, Sean of Katy, Ashley Kosub and husband Justin Kosub plus their 2 children Kip, Shannon of Cypress. Mickey was preceded in death by his parents John Rehak and Clara Rehak, and his 3 older brothers Walter Scott Rehak, John Kenneth Rehak, and Fred Preston Rehak, all WWII veterans.
The funeral service will be held Thursday March 24, 2022, 10:00 A.M. at Bay Area Church, 4800 W. Main St., League City, TX 77573, 281-332-2133 with Rev. Brian Haynes officiating. There will be no visitation hours or post-funeral reception.
Family graveside services will be held Friday, March 25, 2022, 1:00 P.M. at Wharton Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, 3511 E. Alabama Rd., Wharton, TX 77488, 979-532-2671.

Mickey was one of my very best friends. We talked almost weekly or I’d stop by the house. He was a life breathing Google smart man. You could ask him anything and he knew the right answer. He never forgot a name or person and knew the current events by memory. Most refer to a person like that as a photograph memory. I loved Mickey. He never missed an opportunity to share Jesus. His Heavenly crown will be easily recognized. See you before long old friend. Save me a spot.

This was a life well lived. Not a physically large man but a "spiritual giant." That was our Mickey! There are no human words that can describe this man's life, because his life was not mere words but a message. A message from heaven that showed us how to live and how to treat others. I thank God that He allowed me to know such a wonderful example of Christina ethics.

Mickey was my Sunday School teacher when I was in high school. He taught us many a lesson which helped in life and became a life long friend. Mickey and I spoke frequently by telephone and in person at the Sulfurcrat reunions over the years. If there was anything you ever wanted to know about Newgulf or "Old " Gulf Texas all you had to do was ask Mickey he never forgot anything. He will be greatly missed. Go with God my friend,
Mickey was one of a kind and so loved. He was always smiling and joking. He lived God and people, showing us how the walk should be walked. My sincere condolences to the family which has lost so much.
I am stunned and heartbroken about this news.
I have been thinking about the Rehaks recently. Wondering how they are doing.
Mr Mickey and his wife Mrs Barbara rocked me in the church nursery back in my Newgulf TX (small town) days.
Great friends of our family through the years.
Once we were all in this area, I remember lunches (at The Charleston Tea Room in Friendswood amongst other places in the area) with my LarryDad, Mom (who shared a birthday with Mrs Barbara), my son JT and the Rehaks.
He really could tell the stories.
Including stories about my brother who I lost last year.
He was of a strong generation who spoke their mind.
You could take it or leave it.
Still kind to their core.
I find peace in knowing that Mr Mickey is with Jesus.
I pray that the family finds that same peace during the days ahead.
I don’t truly know how heaven looks. But by what The Bible tells me.
Maybe all of my people who I have lost, particularly in this season of years past, Mr Mickey and they will gather around and tell stories. No time limits. All smiles.

When you met Mickey, it's as if you met a life-long friend. His warm, welcoming personality was very special and he left a strong legacy in his family. Enjoy that great big golf course with bunkerless fairways and smooth greens. RIP, Mickey.

Mickey and I played golf together many times, and he was the one who helped me learn the game when I was 11 years old and just starting to play.
The last Sulfacrat reunion that I attended, I sat next to Mickey, and as always, I learned something from him.
He will be sorely missed.

You can tell from these messages that Mickey Rehak was not an ordinary man, Christian, leader, or friend. I thought he would live forever because he survived so much and was still vigorous at the last Sulphacrats Reunion at which I talked with him. Weren't we fortunate to see and know such a good example to follow! I wonder what stories he is telling now to Brother Billy Norton and to bJack Watkins and other old friends from New Gulf.
