In Loving Memory

Noal Trevanion "Vern" Truitt, III

December 26, 1952 – July 31, 2021

Noal Trevanion Truitt, III, 68, of Friendswood, Texas passed away Saturday, July 31, 2021 peacefully at home with family at his side.  He was born December 26, 1952, to Noal Truitt, Jr and Carrie Truitt in Houston Texas.

Noal worked for Shell Oil Company, Deer Park, Texas and retired in 2009. He went to Stephen F Austin High School and due to re-zoning he graduated from Milby High School in 1971. After high school he enlisted in the Army and served 2 years as a Military Police. He was awarded Soldier of the Quarter and was presented a certificate by Major General William B. Fulton during his 2 years of service. He was a true cowboy at heart when he owned his first horse at the age of 10. In later years he began competing in cutting competitions with his favorite cutting horse, Missy. In his life of retirement, Noal was an avid and talented chili cook, having participated several times in the CASI International Chili Championship in Terlingua and making many close friends along the way with his wife, Molly.

Noal was gifted with a very large and kind heart. He was a great friend to many, and always ready to lend a helping hand. Noal had many nicknames as his childhood friends called him Doodle and early in his and Molly’s marriage, she nicknamed him with the name of Vern. Vern has stuck with him as many of his friends called him Vern as well as all his nieces and nephews having called him Uncle Vern. Always known for a good joke and laugh, he will be greatly missed by his large family and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother Carrie Truitt and father Noal Truitt, Jr.

Noal is survived by his wife of 30 years Molly Storey Truitt, his sons Cody and Casey Truitt, and stepdaughter Amy Andrews (she loved him dearly like her own father and called him “Dad”), grandchildren Thor and Tripp Truitt, Lily, Chloe, and Kaylee Andrews.

Memorial donations may be sent to MD Anderson Cancer Center at www.gifts.mdanderson.org.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546, (281) 992-7200, with Deacon Chuck Turner officiating.

  1. Noal was a true friend, a true gentleman, loving and devoted. Ken and I will miss his smile, his kindness, his ability to tell a long joke and laugh at the end with us all. We will miss the late nights filled with stories, his big ol' heart, his willingness to drop everything to help. We will miss watching him adoringly dance with Molly, and grab the microphone to sing. We will miss his tender heart and his unapologetic shared tears. There are many things that we will see and experience that will remind us of you from this day forward and I promise to remember you with a smile and a laugh. I will miss you Noalie! Moo Moo Buckaroo!

  2. My dear friend, I like many others are deeply saddened by your passing but know you are no longer in pain. For that we are grateful. Your smile was infectious and even when you were hurting you always stepped up to help anyone who needed it. From the moment we met I knew we would be friends. I'll miss the jokes, which is why you reminded me of my grandfather, I'll miss our late night talks at the ranch, but I'll never forget them or you. I love you Vern. God Speed my friend until we meet again.

Heaven’s gain is definitely our loss. Your love for Molly, your family, and your friends was evident to anyone who was lucky enough to know you. We will never forget what a kind, funny and thoughtful man you were. You will always remain one of our favorites!!!
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he Rest In Peace. Amen

Sweet Doodle, I grew up with him. He was one of my many brothers that looked out for me! You will be missed by many. Prayers for healing hearts for all that loved him!

  5. Remembering the fun times cooking chili along side Vern and Molly. Vern was always there to help out whomever needed a hand and helped me many times. I will remember his sweet smile and what a good friend he was to so many. Glad there is no more suffering… ride-um-cowboy! Prayers for you Molly and the entire family. I pray that God fills the hole left in your heart and may He fill it with His comfort.

Molly, I am so sorry for your loss. I will keep you in my prayers, along with all your family.

  10. Noal, I wish you you didn’t have to leave us.
You carried on the legacy of your Mother, Carrie, with your kindness, sweetness and big heart.
I’ll never forget the first time we met in 1962. You were so much fun! As part of our adventures, you showed me what a real “cow” looked like, proved that pecans actually grew on trees and that our Uncle’s dog could walk across the clothesline!
Molly, thank you loving him the way you do. I’m so sorry for your broken heart. Molly, Cody, Casey Amy, and the rest of the family you have deepest condolences.

  11. Noal was one-of-a-kind. Always wearing a smile and ready to tell a good story. He was very much loved and will be very much missed. Show 'em how to cook chili up there, Doodle Bug!

Sending my love and hugs to Molly and their extended family.

  12. Doris and Phil Greenlees

Another true gentleman gone too soon. He always had a warm smile and caring heart. He will be missed by many.

  13. Dear Molly and Amy,
There's no doubt in my mind that "Vern" was human sunshine in your lives and the lives of everyone who knew him. What a lovely man he clearly was. Everyone knows – that no one ever knows – the right words to express to someone grieving the loss of a loved one, and I for sure, am no different. I can only say that judging from the beaming smile on his face, you have clearly loved him well, and filled him with as much joy as he undoubtedly did, you, and you're able to take comfort in this. You've always had a golden heart, Molly, and although it's broken right now, you've got so many people who love you and will help it heal in due time.

May God bless you and keep you both, as I know He will.

    Always with love,
    Mary

Rest in Heaven, Noal. You were the sweetest and most kindhearted man and your family and friends are feeling this loss! I will always smile at the memories of you and Molly! I love you both! Molly, I send you strength to help with the tremendous loss of your husband.

  15. I wish I could talk to you one more time!
Two step with you once more!
You are the strongest man I’ll ever know!

  16. I love you dad! I miss you so much! I’m glad your not in pain anymore, but I’m eternally sad that you had to go! I miss your jokes, your funny smile, and your loving heart! I just miss you plain and simple! You gave me a chance when no one else did because that’s they type of man you are! I’m grateful for the time that we did have together although way too short! I can’t wait to see you again!
