In Loving Memory

William Jeff Wild

10/20/1957 – 3/6/2020

William "Jeff" Wild passed away on Friday, March 6. 2020, at the age of 62. He was born on October 20, 1957 in Des Moines, Iowa, to parents L. Richard and Elizabeth "Betsy" Wild and was the oldest of their five children. The family moved to Lafayette, Louisiana, when Jeff was 3 years old, where he made many lifelong friends. Jeff graduated from Acadiana High School and completed his education at The University of Southwestern Louisiana. Soon thereafter, Jeff met his wife, Janet Hernandez. The couple married on April 26, 1980 and went on to have three beautiful, loving, supportive children.

Jeff spent the majority of his career in the Oil and Gas Industry. The family moved to Texas in 1996, where Jeff began his employment with Southern Petroleum Laboratories. At the time of his passing, Jeff had dedicated 24 long years of service to the company and was Executive Vice President of the Allocations and Project Management Division. Of his many accomplishments, Jeff was most proud of having received a Corporate Leadership Award (CORLA) from Minerals Management Services, which is now part of the Federal Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE). Jeff is a named member on SPL's multiple patents for Allocation Methodology.

Jeff enjoyed many aspects of his career, but one of his favorites benefits was the social aspect. As a natural host, he enjoyed meeting people and cultivating close relationships with his counterparts. Jeff had many hobbies, including golf, hunting, fishing and cooking for those he cared for. His greatest joy in life, however, came from being "Pops" to his four grandchildren who simply adored him.

Jeff is survived in death by his wife of 40 years, Janet; his three children Christina Lyons (husband, Nicholas), Matthew Wild (wife, Samantha), Allison Wild; and four loving grandchildren, Ethan Wild, Audrey Wild, Bennett Lyons, and Elliott Lyons. He is also survived by his mother Elizabeth "Betsy", sisters Kathleen West (husband, Dennis) and Gretchen Hughes (husband, James), and brothers Brady Wild (wife, Gabriela) and Richard Wild (wife, Diane), as well as their families, which includes nine nieces and nephews and one great-niece. Jeff was preceded in death by his father, L. Richard Wild.

Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at the Mary Queen Catholic Church, 606 Cedarwood Drive, Friendswood, TX 77546 with a Memorial Mass to begin at 12:00 P.M. with Rev. 1. I always remember Mr. Wild pulling out random ingredients and cooking for me and Christina any timw i popped over. He always would tell me to go wake Christina up on Saturday mornings as both of us were morning folks and chatted in the kitchen and he always would say try this, taste that….. Mr. Wild qlways made sure whoever was at the house was well fed and no matter how long time lapsed it was always easy to catch up. Love you sir!!!!

  2. It's still so very hard to think Jeff passed. Jeff and I have been friends since the first grade. God speed my brother. Will see you on the other side. Love ya!!

I was saddened when I heard the news yesterday of Jeff's passing. I met Jeff shortly after he joined SPL in 1996, and he was the consummate professional and taught me so much during our years of working together.

  4. Jeff will be dearly missed. Remember him growing up In Lafayette. My sister Kerry was a great friend with Jeff who passed away in January and I know those two are together with all their love ones who have passed away. My prayers are with his family.

  5. Jerry & Kathy Williams

It is difficult to express the amount of sorrow from the loss of such a good friend but a real reminder of the importance of true friends like Jeff. Our prayers to Janet, Betsy and all of the family for comfort, strength and peace during these times.

  6. Jeff and Janet had many work related projects we worked at but the main thing I remember was his ability to be a true friend. I am deeply saddened by his passing. I wish the Wild family the best. He will be missed.

  7. As a coworker for many years, Jeff was someone that I had much respect for. It is heartbreaking to hear about his passing and I will be praying for Janet and the family.

Jeff was a key business partner who was an integral part of developing creative solutions to complex challenges, but more importantly he became a friend with whom I enjoyed fishing and hunting. I will never forget us crossing the Mighty Mississippi in his boat with a big tanker bearing down. He told me don't worry he can beat it, which we did but then the boat broke down on the other side of the river. He then said don't worry I can fix it. Fly Away Brother!

  9. Jeff was an amazing boss who always went above and beyond to make sure his employees were taken care of. He loved playing pranks in the office and if he knew you liked a certain type of food many mornings you would feel a tap on your shoulder and a container of that food being placed on your desk. He was the boss but he showed compassion and heart. He will be greatly missed.

  10. I am going to miss Jeff so much. He was a special nephew. He had such a loving and caretaking spirit. His family meant everything to him.
