After graduation from high school, he moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma and attended Tulsa University while working full-time. It was during this time that he met and married Lois and they began their family. He graduated from Tulsa University in 1972 with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. He had begun his career in the mail room at Warren Petroleum in Tulsa and worked his way up the ranks through accounting to the executive suite. He worked through two mergers and retired from Chevon in 1997 after 38 years.

After retiring from Chevron, he worked at the family CPA firm, Peden & Associates, until his final retirement in 2012.

Throughout his life, he helped many not-for-profits. He helped start Reach Out America and worked many years at Hope Village. He always had a love for ministering to others. He never met a stranger and he never had an enemy.

William Earl Peden, Mr. Bill, Bro. Peden, or Papa was many things to many people. Son, brother, nephew, husband, father, uncle, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He was a man of great love and great laughter. His life revolved around his church and his family. Bill and Lois were always together. You never said Bill or Lois, you always said Bill AND Lois. Above all, Bill loved Jesus Christ, his church and his family.

He was an active member of Greater Life Church in League City, Texas.

He occupied himself with many hobbies, most of which revolved around all manner of livestock, from exotic fish to English bulldogs, swans, migratory waterflow, pheasants, cattle, horses, goats, and chickens. His yard was his pride and joy, and if you never saw his azaleas in full bloom, you missed out.

My wife and I are from Arkansas and became friends with Brother and Sister Peden at Greater Life Church during the winter season of 2020. The COVID pandemic has prevented us from coming back to the Houston area. We are so saddened to learn of the passing of our friend Bro. Peden. He was a wonderful man. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and the church family at Greater life Church.

I worked with Bill in Houston following one of the many mergers at Chevron. Bill welcomed me from the Denver Chevron office to the Houston office. He was in the office right next to mine and I so enjoyed hearing his laughter. It was contagious. There was never a day that he didn't share his joy of life with a funny story. We were Brothers and Sisters in the Lord and shared prayers and praises. It was a joy to meet his family. He was so proud of them. I know they will miss his presence here on this earth. I pray that God will give Lois and his family comfort in knowing you will see him again in Heaven. He was a wonderful man and friend.

Bill Peden was my first boss in Houston when I transferred from Gulf in Midland – what a wonderful man and he did love his family. I was assigned finally to the new production department in the property sales. I became the President of the new Chevron Employees Club and Bill was such a big help to me to get the job done. Marcia Garland and Mr. John Rowland were wonderful to work with and Bill Peden was always there with his guidance and sense of humor. Those were fun days and I owe Bill the credit as the man behind the scenes to make sure the employees had good activities and programs . Blessings to Lois and family.
