William "Bill" Frank Thornton, Jr.

January 6, 1941 – March 23, 2021

William “Bill” Frank Thornton, Jr, age 80, a Friendswood resident for 53 years, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021.  Bill was born on January 6, 1941 in Sealy, Texas.

Bill is survived by his wife Linda, married for 59 years; daughters Terry Gummelt and husband Brock, Lori Balzen and husband Mark; grandchildren Ethan Balzen and Travis Balzen; brother Dale Thornton; nephew Devin; niece Megan; brother Glenn Thornton; and nephew Michael.  Bill is also survived by his and Linda’s “adopted” family Lesa and Brad Porterfield; grandchildren Tyler Porterfield and Jaret Porterfield.

There will be no visitation or service at Bill’s request.

  1. Omg, this photo is the Bill I remember. He was so much like his father, PawPaw. My deepest condolences to both his daughters and the sweet woman by his side for a lifetime, Miss Linda. Prayers as well for his brothers Glenn and Dale, as well as my son, Michael. Hold tight to the knowledge that you will see him again. See ya later Bill Thornton 🙏🙏💔

Dad is greatly missed and we appreciate all that the two of you have done for us. I will continue to feel his love surrounding me until we meet again.
