In Loving Memory

Michael Lynn Thomas

10/4/1966 – 3/16/2020

Michael Lynn Thomas, 53, of Friendswood, TX passed away on Monday, March 16, 2020. He was born October 4, 1966 to Dan and Marilyn Terrell Thomas in Arlington, TX. He graduated from Alvin High School in 1985. He was in the jazz band in high school and continued his love of music into his adult life; he even talked his wife into building a music room in his beautiful home.

He met the love of his life Bettina and they were married on October 16, 1993, together they had 3 amazing boys, Tyler (heir to his empire), Dylan and Cameron. He loved his boys very much and introduced them all into music so that they could all jam together. He loved seeing the world with them and making memories. Bettina and the boys are devastated and will miss him terribly.

Michael established Third Coast Graphics in February 2000, where he continued his love of art design and developing his Third Coast surfer retail line.

He loved playing music, sports cars, designing artwork and traveling. He was a foodie and was a connoisseur of Mexican food, where he based his Mexican food on a 5-sombrero system. Every Friday he visited the local Taqueria in Alvin to bring breakfast tacos to his employees that he loved very much. Michael loved to cook, especially BBQ; no one left our house hungry. He always made sure that everyone had food to take home.

Michael is survived by his loving wife Bettina; sons, Tyler, Dylan and Cameron; parents, Dan and Marilyn Thomas; brothers, Jeff and his wife Marcy, Jim and Scott and his wife Adrienne; mother and father-in-law, Daniel and Christhilde Hankins; sister-in-law, Janet Feltner, sister-in-law, Francesca and husband Quinn Baker; brother-in-law Joshua Hankins and wife Amber; sister-in-law Rachael Hankins; brother-in-law Jeremiah Hankins; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cherished friends.

A private memorial service will be held on Friday, March 20, 2020 at 3:00 P.M. at the Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546 (281) 992-7200 with Pastor Eddie Cantu officiating. Bettina, the boys and the entire family appreciate your understanding as we plan a dignified service for Michael, while considering the health of our high-risk family attending the service. Once the pandemic has passed a celebration of life will be held for everyone.

Michael was loved by all and will be missed by so many. When you were in Mike's presence you were always laughing; he was the best at telling jokes and stories. While he moved to Friendswood, he always considered Alvin, TX "God's Country". If you asked him where he lived, he still said Alvin, TX.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in his memory to American Foundation for Suicide Prevention at www.afsp.org or the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org

Condolences may be sent to the Thomas family in care of Jeter Memorial Funeral Home at www.jeterfuneralhome.com.

Prayers for all of you. The last time I saw Mike, he was dropping off Alvin Alumni Band T-shirts. He looked great! Told me about an awesome vacation he took with Bettina and beamed with love as he spoke about his wife. The happiest I've ever seen him. We'd love to provide dinner for y'all. Just let my sister know when.

  6. Where do we began when talking about stories with Mike? I think our family could write a book about all the funny times we had with Mike. First he lives in "North Alivn" Not friendswood 🙂 On the weekends we would get surprise visits from mike with breakfast burritos in hand, his cooking never disappointed anyone). Every single person in our family would have multiple stories from my dad who loved mike and when he was alive would either be flying in his plane with him or laughing with him. My mom and I were always laughing around mike. Our whole family loves the Thomas Family and im sure everyone that has ever met them can say the same. We will continue to talk about his funny stories forever! Love you guys

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I grew up with Mike and we even lived a few houses apart. I have such fun and wonderful memories of our youth and throughout the school years. I feel so fortunate to have been a small part of his life. He always called me "neighbor" 🙂 Know that you and your family are not alone

  11. I am so sorry for your loss and pain. May each of you know Mike loved you dearly and knew you loved him May each of you find solace and joy when reflecting on and when sharing your memories May each of you find moments to sit in stillness to breathe deeply May each of you be safe May each of you be healthy May each of you remember you are loved May each of you be a source of healing for each other.

  12. Mike was one of my favorite people. Funny, witty and a great salesman, or bullshitter as I liked to call him. He always treated me with respect, in his own special way. I met him shortly after he started his company. He kept me busy with artwork and computer updates. He really was a great guy. I'm gonna miss him. He'd call me and always greet me as Roberto, even though my name is Shane. My heart goes out to his family. I can't imagine what they are going through. Much love to the Thomas family. I will never forget Miguel…

I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss of Mike. We met in junior high. He was a year ahead of me. The very first dance I attended was at the First United Methodist Church and when they played Breakup Song by Greg Kihn, Mike began to dance and everyone backed up in a circle to give him room. He was wearing a white shirt and tie (very David Bowie-esque) and a hat with a dark band. He was so confident and loved the attention and it made me wish that I had his confidence. As the years went on through high school, I watched him grow and change. He got into the whole surfer gig. Then, we both ended up in Mr. Remington's Consumer Math Class, filled with juvenile delinquents and people without the smarts to pass Algebra II. Those are mine and Mike's common experiences. While he could be intimidating at times, I always found him to be very soft-hearted. I remember him as very handsome and lovable guy, kind of a cross between Pony Boy Curtis and Dallas Winston in the Outsiders by S.E. Hinton.
