In Loving Memory

Linda Smith Prentice

April 25, 1951 – May 10, 2021

Linda Smith Prentice went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 10, 2021. She is joyfully reunited with her beloved Mama, Nancy; her precious aunts, Kate, Gladys, Lois, Lila; and other friends and family who preceded her.

She is survived by the love of her life and best friend, Richard D. Prentice, her husband of 51 years.  She is also survived by her sister, Kathy Mitchell; her nephew, Mark Cox; her aunt, Mary Ellen Miller; her aunt and uncle, Alice and Wayne O'Sullivan; eight cousins and their families; Richard's brothers and their wives, John and Linda, Steve and Teri, and Alvin and Patricia; ten nieces and nephews; five great nephews and four great nieces.

Linda and Richard were married on December 23, 1969 and loved and supported each other through life's ups and downs.  Linda loved her husband, home, friends, family and her cat, Lucy Ricardo.  She loved to cook, entertain, and make people laugh.  She'd give you free advice whether you wanted it or not.

Linda was an organ donor and willed her earthly body to medical science to study.  She survived ovarian cancer at age 23, survived breast cancer at age 66, and fought bravely in her later life coping with neurological, cardiac, and digestive disorders.  At her request she will be cremated and her ashes released into the wind on the beach at Galveston, Texas.

Linda wanted everyone to know she loved her life, and she was grateful to all her family and friends who loved her.  More than anything, Linda asks that everyone please comfort and look out for her precious Richard as he adjusts to life without her.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, May 21, 2021 at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546, (281) 992-7200.  Immediately following the service will be a reception at her home at 608 Oak Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to the following organizations:

  1. Linda meant so much to the entire Sensat and Coutorie families. We mourn the loss of our Guardian Angel. She always was concerned with making sure we were all Ok and happy. Always had a joke and expected you to give her one in return. We love you Richard and we are all better for knowing your precious Linda.

Linda was a fantastic person! She loved Richard & the Lord! In every expression of her life, she showed this! She is going to be greatly missed, but it's a blessing to know she has no more pain or suffering! I wish I had spent more time with her enjoying her laughs & wonderful lease on life! I will miss you Dear Sister!!

  3. Linda volunteered in my first grade class not only making sure the kids were ready for their weekly spelling test but also that they had shoes and school clothes. We had a special group of needy children. She would arrive with a big bag for them. They thanked her by big smiles and tearing into it! I'm sure they will always remember this special lady who cared for them.
As we all felt this gift of hers to care for all of us.

After knowing Richard + Linda for over 20 years we can truly say she was one of a kind + an absolutely wonderful lady. She always had a smile, positive attitude + a joke to share.
She also remembered all the special days + anniversaries in her loved ones lives + was the first to acknowledge them .She even helped us set up on our wedding day to make sure everything would be perfect.
Richard + Lindas love was also one of a kind. . Many of her stories would include the thoughtful things Richard did for her to make her feel special + taken care of. It was obvious they raised each other up with every opportunity + had a love for all to look up to.

  5. Linda was a wonderful , loving person ,who adored Richard in every way. She had a zest for life that was unsurpassed . Everybody's life she touched was enlightened by her . She and I always loved to share a joke or two. You will be greatly missed . I am sure that God has a special place for you in heaven . Richard , you can rest assured that Linda is looking down upon you and wishing you peace .
