Our loving mother, Glenda Sue Gentine, went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, May 21, 2021. She was born March 25, 1942, to Joseph and Nobie Simmons in Springhill, Louisiana.
Sue was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She loved the Lord with all her heart, and she guided her children to do the same. Sue was a skilled seamstress who loved animals, particularly horses. She spent many years raising horses and attending horse shows and events.
Sue was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marc Gentine; her parents, Joseph and Nobie Simmons; her sister, Betty Dennis, and her brother, Billy Joe Simmons.
Sue is survived by her children, Tammy Sikes and Tony Sikes; Tony's wife, Ramona Sikes; her step-daughter, Sarah Hughes, her husband, Darren Hughes, and their children, Grace, Samuel and Sophie; her step-son, Mike Gentine, his wife, Catilin Gentine, and their children, Myles, Eleanor and Margaret. She is also survived by her brother, C. G. "Buddy" Simmons, his wife, Barbara Simmons, and their children and grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, with the family receiving visitors at 10:00 A.M., at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546, with Lloyd Digby officiating. Music will be performed by Robert Williams with recorded music by Ramona Sikes. Burial will be at a later date at Houston National Cemetery on Veterans Memorial Drive.
