In Loving Memory

Dorothy Demand

October 10, 1925 – March 31, 2021

Dorothy Demand, age 95, of Sugar Land, Texas, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021, under the loving care of Fairfield Hospice nurse Lehia, and wonderful staff members at Colonial Oaks at First Colony.  She was born on October 10, 1925 in Lookeba, Oklahoma to her parents Mr and Mrs Orland Barger.  She was the beloved wife of the late Lyman Demand for more than 67 years.  She is survived by 5 of 6 children, Dana (Brigid), Gary (Pat), Peggy Nolan (Steve), Jim (Lori) and David (Renee).   Son Robert died in 2017.  She had 17 grandchildren: Stephen Demand, Martha Demand, Sarah Jorgensen (Russell), and Philip Demand (Stella); Julie Wagner (Josh) and Jennifer Jorgensen (James); April Mueller (James), Adam Demand (Rea), and Andrew Demand (Melissa); Sean Nolan (Melody), Shannon Randle (Reese), and Spencer Nolan (Stephanie); Austin Demand (Christine) and Audrey Sukharutski (Yahor); Rebekah Bennett (Chad), Ryan Demand (Tiffany), and Michael Demand. Additionally, Dorothy and Lyman were blessed with 25 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy and Lyman were most proud of all their children, and never missed a moment to love and help them in any way they could.  As they moved 3 times in Oklahoma, 6 times in Texas and once to Spokane, Washington their children naturally have ended up all over this country, and much of their retirement was spent visiting the many homes of their family.

Travel became limited as they got older, but Mom and Dad still had each other and showed that love to everyone who saw them. Theirs was a true love story.  We miss both of them but know they are now holding hands in heaven.

The family will have a Memorial Service for our Mom on June 21, 2021 at the Houston National Cemetery at 10:15 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to The American Heart Association (heart.org) The American Cancer Society (cancer.org) or the charity of your choice.
