In Loving Memory

Danny Ralph King

July 1, 1947 – May 31, 2021

Danny Ralph King passed away on Memorial Day, May 31, 2021.  Danny was born July 1, 1947 at Jefferson Davis Hospital in Houston, TX.  He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from February 20, 1967 to July 1, 1968 on the USS Farragut DLG-6 and other ships.  He was also a truck driver, worked with his brother Noel in the trailer park business, and finally worked at the VA Hospital in Houston, TX as a safety specialist and retired after 18 years of service.

Danny's interests were fishing, football, trucks, women and nature. He loved music, especially from the 50's and 60's, and his favorite singers were Neil Diamond, Bob Dylan, and especially Elvis Presley.  He would listen to his songs on Alexa all day long. Danny was a kind and gentle spirited person who was loved by all. He had Alzheimer's for 10+ years and was at home until God came to claim him.

Many thanks to friends who came to visit him and bring food for us both.  Special thanks and appreciation to Essential Hospice, his nurses, and Tanya from AstroCare Home Health. A very Special thanks to Gloria, the CNA from Essential Hospice. She gave special care and love to Ralph and he loved her, and I did too.  In fact, he was planning to run away with her and I was happy with that. Had the bags packed and all we were waiting on was Gloria's okay.

Danny was preceded in death by his Mother Ida Marlene King, Father Noel Leon King, (Joe) Sr., Brother Noel Leon King, Jr., Sister Ouida Hartt, Uncle Donnie W. Chandler and wife Guadalupe F., Uncle Hubert Chandler, Aunt Effie Grayson, and Aunt Mary Cruseturner.

He is survived by his wife, Maria, Brother Milton Martin and wife Yolanda, Brother Doyle W. King and wife Ruby, Brother Elvin Brent King and wife Gretchen, Cousin Wanda Grayson, Nephew Edward F. Giering and wife Mary, Goddaughter Cerita Townley Young and husband David, and many nieces and nephews, and his pets Buddy the shih tzu and Drucilla the mixed terrier.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M., with the family to receive friends at 2:00 P.M., on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546, (281) 992-7200, with Rev. Dr. Mark Downs officiating.  He will be interred at 1:45 P.M. on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, Texas 77038.

Condolences may be sent to the King Family in care of Jeter Memorial Funeral Home at www.jeterfuneralhome.com.

I met my friend Maria in music class just a couple of years ago. Her love and dedication to her husband Ralph was phenomenal. Ralph was fortunate to have such a loving and caring wife during his illness. Maria, I am truly sorry for you loss.

I love you so much Uncle Ralph, I'm going to miss you and that laugh, smile everytime we saw eachother. You've brought so many smiles, so much laughter, so many warm hugs. You've always been someone I've looked up to. My favorite memories will be that laugh and Astroworld, I went for the first ride and tried to " man up " for the second one but could only walk you up. I chickened out at last min and you gave me that laugh, hugged me, and said it was o.k. You said you'd see me after the ride was over and we'd try another one.. I'm holding you to that.

  6. Dear Maria and Family,
My sincere condolences to you all, may God grant you his peace and may he comfort you and strengthen you. Ralph and Maria especially will remain in my prayers.
