11/16/1938 – 3/20/2020
Clarence (C.E.) Veltman, 81, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2020. He was born November 16, 1938 in Garrettsville, OH to parents Loren and Esther Veltman. He grew up on a 103-acre farm in Pennsylvania before moving to Texas with his family. He was a long-time resident of Alvin, TX and Rosenberg, TX. He graduated from Alvin High School in 1956 and Alvin Junior College with a degree in law enforcement. He was a volunteer fireman and a police officer in Alvin before changing careers to the oil field industry working for Dresser Atlas. He finally realized law enforcement was his calling and he went back to being a police officer at the University of Houston. He eventually left there and found his home at Rice University where he retired after 20+ years of dedicated service to the students and staff.
He was an avid reader of WWII books, loved to cook and do crossword puzzles. He enjoyed traveling to Lockhart so he could eat Prime Rib, and he absolutely loved eating ice cream!!! He had the most infectious smile that would light up a room and a wicked sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Angie Veltman, 5 sisters and 3 brothers. He is survived by his children with Barbara Veltman: Barbi Huggins (Paul), Benny Veltman (Pam), Rhonda Myers (Mike) and Dawn Sustaita (Freddy); Angie's children: Charles and Carolyn (Reginald); his grandchildren: Aleicia (Gary), Ashlei, Heather (David), Malynda, Trey, Derek, Mason, Wyatt, Jeffrey (Lyndal), Gregory, Eli (Bob), and Michaella; his great grandchildren: Nina, Gavin, Makaylei, Kendal, Harper, Hannah, Edie, Jillian, and Henleigh; siblings: Cora and Jane; in laws: Marie, Alicia, David (his best friend), Rick, Patricia, and Richard.
