Charles Edward Surface

August 24, 1949 – December 13, 2020

Charles Edward Surface, 71, a resident of Webster, TX passed away on December 13, 2020.  Charles was born August 24, 1949 in Dallas, TX.  He attended Baybrook Baptist Church in Friendswood and was a retired postmaster and army veteran of the Vietnam War.  Charles was a compassionate and noble man who valiantly served his country and looked out for the needs of others above his own.  It was this spirit that earned him a bronze medal in the war.  Charles married his loving wife, Marcia, on July 14, 1972.  They raised their two children Chris & Michelle and had 5 amazing grandkids that they have loved watching grow. He is survived by his wife, Marcia Surface, brother, Greg Surface, son, Chris Surface and wife Lindsay Surface; daughter, Michelle Pfister and husband Deke Pfister; and grandchildren, Noah Surface, Kate Surface, Kara Surface, Dylan Pfister, and Izzy Pfister.

  2. Charles and I were the Grandfathers of Dylan and Izzy Pfister. He was a very strong presence in their lives and will be missed sorely, There is a tremendous vacuum in our lives without him. He will live on in our memories forever.

  3. Ms. Marcia, your sweet husband and you taught our daughter Elissa in Children's church. Even after she had grown into a young adult, you both would ask about her and pray for her. The love you showed her still touches me to this day. I am so sorry to hear that Mr. Charles has passed away. Praying for God to give you comfort and peace. Love, Susan, Mark, and Elissa Chotas

  5. Marcia-Charles was such a servant of God and roll model of a Christian. I have fond memories of serving with him, attending life group with you both, and seeing you both at our new church. My heart aches for you and the rest of the family in this great loss. But I am rejoicing as Charles has been welcomed home as a good and faithful servant. Praying for God's strength and comfort for you and your family. In His love, Suzie

  7. Marcia, I am so very sorry for your loss.
I worked with Charles for several years at Nassau Bay Post Office. He was a man of compassion and integrity
I have not seen Charles for app. 10 years, but he has been on my mind for weeks. Now, I know why.
I know his children and grandchildren will follow his life long example of love and integrity. One cannot ask more than that.

  8. Cousin Charles will be dearly missed! I loved his gentle spirit, his dry sense of humor, his love for family, friends and Christ. Our hearts are broken 💔
