In Loving Memory

Betty Ilene (Thompson) McFarlen

January 16, 1944 – April 12, 2021

Betty Ilene McFarlen was called home to be with the Lord on April 12, 2021 at the age of 77.  Betty was born in Jackson County, West Virginia to parents Ernest and Audra Thompson on January 16, 1944.  Betty moved to Texas in 1962 and in 1970 she found her forever home in Friendswood, TX.  She was a devoted and loving Mother with a strong devotion to the Lord, always putting the Lord and her family first.  She worked for many years as a highly valued and loyal employee and friend in a company that became her family.  She was the heart of the office and home affectionally known as Miss Betty or BeBe.  Betty always had a bright and cheerful smile and sweetness about her that would draw you to her.  She is the true definition of grace and poise.  As a Mom she was a gift from God to her daughters.  No one could have ever asked for a better Mother, she was tough when she needed to be and kind and loving always.  Betty was active in her local church, First Baptist Church of Friendswood, serving in many roles throughout the years with working in the children's department being her favorite.  Betty will be missed by everyone that knew her. Her bright and beautiful smile always made any day a better day for anyone she came in contact with.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Audra Thompson, sister Evelyn Thompson, brother Adrian Thompson, sister Bernice Carvell and sister-in-law Ronna Thompson.

She is survived by her daughters Ann McFarlen and Cindy McFarlen and their father Jess McFarlen, brothers and sisters: Nina McVey and husband Frank, Neil Thompson and wife Beverly, Paul Thompson, Sharon Runion and husband Frank, and Keith Thompson and wife Carolyn, 22 nieces and nephews, and also many close friends who are considered family.

Friends are cordially invited to attend a visitation with the family from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546, 281-992-7200.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Moe Mays officiating.
