Windal Scott Bray

In Loving Memory

Windal Scott Bray

3/29/1960 - 10/26/2017

Scott Bray was born on March 29, 1960 to Stanley and Paula Bray in Pasadena, Texas.  He attended elementary school in Crowley, Louisiana and finished high school at J. Frank Dobie in 1978.  At his five-year reunion, he connected with his future wife, Susie Chmielowiec.  They married on April 20, 1985 and moved to Cypress, Texas.  They welcomed a baby boy, Wesley, in April of 1988 and a daughter, Angel in October of 2003.

Scott’s life revolved around his wife and children.  He coached football, basketball and track for Wesley.  He was an active member of Track Houston and coached field events.  He continued to coach when Angel moved into track.  Wesley was a decathlete and competed nationally and internationally.  Scott travelled to all his meets regardless of distance or location.  Angel was active in theater and the Houston Children’s Chorus.  Scott attended all her performances.

Scott had a passion for motors and cars even as early as high school.  It was not uncommon for him to assist his classmates with work on their cars.  That carried over into his adult life.  He was always there to fix cars for friends and family.  He constantly had project cars in the garage, on the driveway and in storage.  Some of them are still there.

Scott loved sports and played football in high school.  His family heard countless stories of teammates on and off the field that left them rolling on the floor in laughter.

Scott worked in the oil and gas field for over 35 years.  He held over 30 patents and publications.  He was known for being “rough around the edges” but brilliant at what he did.  His opinions and advice were very well respected.

Scott is survived by his wife of 32 years, Susie Chmielowiec Bray, his son, Wesley, his daughter, Angel, his mother, Paula, his brother, Dale, his grandmother, Nola Clyde Tolar, his brother and sister in law, Jim and Gail Sawyer, niece, Jill Sawyer Butler and her husband, Ryan, and children Mikey, James and Joeley, and nephew, Brad Sawyer and his wife, Michelle and children, Kaylen and Sydney and many aunts, uncles, cousins and very dear friends.  He was predeceased by his father, Stanley, his grandfather, P.L. Tolar, and his grandparents, Cecil and Elsie Bray.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at the Jeter Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546 with Rev. Helen DeLeon officiating.  Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas.
