Emma Starlight Hyde

In Loving Memory

Emma Starlight Hyde

1/18/2003 - 10/25/2017

Emma Starlight Hyde, 14, of Friendswood, went to be with our Lord on October 25, 2017.  She was born on January 18, 2003 in Irvine, California to parents John and Shelley Hyde.  Emma was a beautiful soul.  She was a sweet, kind, loving and endearing daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece and cousin, which only begins to describe our Emma.  She was her brother’s sweet sister and occasional adversary.  He adored and admired her honesty and forthright charm. Having a sensitive, strong, bold and tender personality, she also acquired a humor that was sharp and quick with a laughter that was engaging and infectious.  Her enchanting smile was reflected in all.

Emma was very independent.  She wanted to travel and see the world; to go places near or far.  Drawn to big cities, she wanted to see Times Square in New York.  She loved and longed for more time in Phoenix where she was so excited to hike with her Uncle Chris, visit her Grandma Rosie and just drink in the Arizona desert and mountains.  The landscape there was so beautiful and inspiring to her.

Emma was a freshman at Friendswood High School.  Her family moved to Friendswood when she was just 3 years old and she attended school there throughout the years.  She was a brilliant and earnest student, enjoying math as her favorite subject and was loved and admired by her teachers and friends alike.  Emma loved and supported her friends so much and she was so special to them.  They relied on her strong shoulders and loving heart.  Her childhood memories included being a volunteer foster mom for shelter kitties, jumping and flipping on trampolines, swimming, or enjoying her favorite food, cheese pizza.  As a teenager her favorite times were “chilling” with  groups of her very dear and loved friends or spending time with her sweet dog, Frankie.

Throughout her childhood Emma played softball.  She was excited to play for the high school softball team.  For her team mates, she cheered their successes and cried with them when they were hurt or defeated.  She looked forward to college and dreamed of playing softball for LSU.

From Mom:

Emma was kind…even when wronged.  Fearless when honestly afraid.  Courageous when most intimidated.  Boldest when denied.  Genuine when others were not.  Tender in the worst of storms. Compassionate when others turned away.  Quiet when proud.  Strong when her loved ones were not able.

From Dad:

I love Emma for being sassy, bossy and stubborn.  We shared a secret sense of humor and giggled during late night runs to the store for special snacks.  I adored her for her strength and kindness.  My heart stopped every time I saw her height and beauty.

Emma is survived by her parents, John and Shelley Hyde; brother, John-Paul Hyde grandparents, Bela Edward Simko and Roselyn Simko and Neil and Linda Hyde; many loving family members and friends.
