Rita Fox Seelig

Rita Verne Fox Seelig, 72, passed away July 13, 2017 in Friendswood, TX. Rita was born on April 19, 1945 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Marvin Eugene Fox and Elsie Marie Dryden Fox. 

Rita grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor’s Degree. Over her lifetime, Rita lived in many places including Oklahoma, Florida, California, and Texas. Rita worked for Coastal/El Paso Corporation for most of her career. Rita married Larry Seelig on June 4, 2005. After two years of marriage, Rita was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 62. 

Rita was a loving, kind, beautiful woman. Rita always had a smile on her face and a happy, compassionate disposition. Rita loved the Lord and attended church regularly at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Rita had a magnetic personality that attracted people to her and enjoyed meeting people and being active in the church. Rita loved being outdoors, especially coastal and mountainous regions, going on long walks, dancing, and gardening. Rita also had a special fondness for nature, children, and animals. Rita will be deeply missed by her family and friends. The world is a better place because of the time she spent here with us. 

Rita was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Kent Fox.

Rita is survived by her husband Larry Seelig; daughter Kitee Valentz and husband Jason Valentz; sister Sandra Brennan; two grandchildren, Aidan Paradise and Ethan Paradise; and many family members and friends.

The family is very grateful for the loving caretakers at Serenity Gardens home in Friendswood where Rita passed away peacefully. 

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 18220 Upper Bay Rd., Houston, TX 77058  with Pastor Brian Weaver officiating.  Rita will be laid to rest at Forest Park East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association at
