Susan Jayne Zapf

Susan Jayne Zapf of Webster, Texas passed away on April 21, 2017.  She was born in Duluth, Minnesota to Richard W. Atkinson and Dagny Constance Christianson.

She married John D. Zapf on June 30, 1962 and they were stationed in Minnesota, Texas, and Colorado during his service as a medical doctor in the Army. They returned to Monticello, Minnesota and Susie raised her three boys and supported her husband in his medical practice. “Grandma Susie” was known for telling stories, enjoying Broadway musicals, instilling this love of musicals in her grandchildren, and spending time with her family. She enjoyed red cardinals and spending time at the cabin on Long Lake with her husband and children.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dr. John D. Zapf.

She is survived by her son, Joseph Zapf (guardian son) and daughter-in-law, Susan Zapf, and two grandsons, Christopher and Joshua Zapf of Friendswood, Texas; son, Peter Zapf of Chicago, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Zapf and grandson, Jonathan Zapf of Southbend, Indiana; son, Paul Zapf and granddaughter, Haily Mae Zapf of Olympia, Washington and grandson, Justin Zapf of Andrews, Texas, and their mother Lyndi Zapf; and her sisters, Judy Franson of Milledgeville, Georgia and Doris Jensen of Rochester, Minnesota.

Susie had many friends and family residing in Minnesota. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held in St. Cloud, Minnesota with date to be announced.
