Laura Ann Bishop

In Loving Memory

Laura Ann Bishop

4/07/1959 - 1/23/2018

Laura Ann Bishop, loving wife and beloved mother and daughter left to be with her Lord and Maker on January 23, 2018.  Laura was born in Ashtabula, Ohio in April 7, 1959 to Alton (Buss) and Diane Sherrick. Laura graduated from Edgewood Senior High School in 1977, then from Bowling Green State University in 1981 where she earned her Bachelors of Business Administration.  She was a Buyer for Sanger-Harris in Dallas and Foley’s in Houston from 1981 to 1991 and later became a Regional Sales Manager for Calphalon Corporation until her retirement in 2007.

On September 7, 1990, Laura married the love of her life Capt. Edward V. Bishop of Philadelphia, PA, who is currently employed with Helix. Together, they had their precious daughter Samantha, who is a graduate of Friendswood High School and attends college in Louisiana.

Laura was a loving, dedicated, attentive mother and wife.  During her 27 years of marriage enjoyed many life adventures, traveling with the family to many countries around the world, enjoying scuba diving, hiking, exploring and just spending time together. She was a gourmet cook and enjoyed her new hobby of scrapbooking.  She was an active member of the Friendswood United Methodist Church where she avidly enjoyed Samantha’s participation in youth choir. Laura also enjoyed the years she spent mentoring elementary youth children through the church program, Kids Hope USA.  Laura was a co-leader for a confirmation small group at the church and could be counted on to help with field trips, meetings, and activities with Samantha’s Girl Scout troop.

Laura was an amazing friend to many.  She was very generous with her time and resources.  She reached out to others when they needed encouragement and support. Laura was known for planning and hosting social activities to keep her friends and family members close and connected.  She didn’t just talk about valuing relationships; she lived it out to the very end. She always tried to find something positive and lighthearted in whatever life threw at her.

Laura was preceded in death by: her son, Kevin Edward Bishop; brother, Bradley Sherrick; and father, Alton (Buss) Sherrick.

She is survived by her husband Capt. Edward V. Bishop; daughter, Samantha Bishop; mother, Diane Sherrick, and mother in law, Mary Louise Bishop and the best family dog, Ginger.

Laura’s devotion and firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. Friends and family may donate in lieu of flowers in her name to one of her favorite charities:  Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance (OCRFA), the American Cancer Society, or MD Anderson.

Friends are cordially invited to attend a visitation with the family on Monday, January 29, 2018 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood, TX 77546, (281) 992-7200.
