Betty Bayne Eignus Totten

In Loving Memory

Betty Bayne Eignus Totten

11/07/1934 - 11/02/2017

Betty Bayne Eignus Totten, RN, MA, LPC, LMFT, went home to her Heavenly Father on Thursday, November 2, 2017, just shy of her 83rd birthday. She was born in Houston, Texas, on November 7, 1934, and grew up in the Friendswood community. She was an active member of the Friendswood Friends Church and voted “Class Favorite” by her graduating class at Friendswood High School.

Betty lived her life dedicated to the service of others. She began her career as a labor and delivery nurse at Southeast Memorial Hospital. Following that, she was a HOSA (Health Occupations) teacher for Pasadena High School. She gave so much emotional support to her students and their families during her 10 years at PHS, she decided to become a licensed family therapist, opening her own practice, the Totten Family Center, in 1990. For more than 25 years, she helped hundreds of individuals, couples and families throughout Southeast Texas.

Her greatest joys in life were faith and family. She was an active member of several churches throughout her life, including Minnetex Community Church and Garden Villas United Methodist Church, serving as church organist, Sunday School teacher and Bible study leader, among many other roles. In her free time, she loved gardening, cuddling with her dog, Molly, and being near the ocean any chance she could get!

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Harry L. and Margaret O. Bayne, and her brother, Harry L. Bayne, Jr.  She is survived by her children, Michael Eignus of Houston, Lorrie Eignus of Houston, Kenny Eignus and wife Diana of LaPorte, and Joan Evans of Spring; and her grandchildren, Jennifer Eignus of Houston and Will Evans of Spring.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017, 11:00 a.m., at Living Stones Church, 1407 Victory Lane, Alvin, Texas. Reception following.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp Blessing, Texas.
