Edward J. Dondzila

In Loving Memory

Edward J. Dondzila

12/18/1940 - 10/11/2017

Edward Dondzila, 76, of Friendswood, Texas passed away October 11, 2017 in Houston,Texas. He was born December 18, 1940 in Newark, New Jersey to Edward and Mary (Mackiewicz) Dondzila. He and Madeline touched lives across five states, marrying in New Jersey, making their first home in Ypsilanti, Michigan, growing and raising their family in Columbia, Tennessee and St. Louis, Missouri before settling here in Friendswood, Texas.

Edward was loved by a large, extended family and network of friendships going back to their early days together. He was active in serving those less fortunate through the Mary Queen Food Pantry. Ed made weekly trips collecting surplus food items and bicycles, bringing all of them to the pantry or other organizations dedicated to helping those less fortunate. He donated quietly and without recognition to many charitable causes.

Edward has now joined his loving wife, Madeline, in our Father’s presence. He is survived by his daughters, Cathy Nabulsi and husband Marwan, Beth Dondzila, Tracey Bell and her husband Frank, Jennifer Drake and her husband Richard; sons, Chris Dondzila, and Andy and wife Laura; two sisters, Alexandra Hollock and Sophie Cummings; granddaughters, Meghann Niesen, Emily Dondzila, Ashlee Drake, Andrea Dondzila, Bryce Nabulsi, Olivia Dondzila, Madeline Bell, and Lucy Dondzila; grandsons, John Niesen, Nick Dondzila, Richard Drake, Matthew Bell and Gray Dondzila.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 13, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in St. Joseph’s Chapel of Mary Queen Catholic Church, 606 Cedarwood, Friendswood, Texas 77546. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Independence Village, 905 TX-3, Texas City, Texas, 77591. This facility loved and cared for Madeline’s sister for many years, easing her burden and thus Edward’s. Additionally, contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org .

Condolences may be sent to the Dondzila family in care of Jeter Memorial Funeral Home at www.jeterfuneralhome.com .

Ed & Madeline were wonderful people whose love for the poor will never be forgotten at Mary Queen Church. This Biblical verse perfectly describes Ed: "...the upright man walks in his integrity". May the Lord of love and compassion bring Ed safely to his heavenly home, and may the Blessed Mother comfort and bless him and his family. All our love and prayers, MarySandra & Steve Foster
