Lorna Daley Zeitler

In Loving Memory

Lorna Daley Zeitler

3/20/1932 - 5/5/2017

Lorna Daley Zeitler, 85, passed away on May 5, 2017 in Webster, TX.  She was born on March 20, 1932 in Vermilion Alberta Canada to parents, Edwin W. and Anna Jane (Bowsfield) Daley.  Lorna obtained a nursing degree from Royal Alexandria Hospital School of Nursing in Edmonton Alberta Canada.  She met and married the love of her life, Edward O. Zeitler, while working in San Diego as a nurse.  In 1962, employment for NASA brought them to Friendswood where they built a home and raised two sons, Mark and Scott.  Lorna worked at Methodist Hospital and then, along with two other ladies, opened the Friendswood Children’s House (Montessori School) in 1975, of which they owned for 30 years. This created a lasting legacy of her love for kids and families for generations.  She attended Hope Lutheran Church for almost 50 years and became part of the Stephens Ministry.  She was active in Friendswood politics for decades and supported her husband when he held office for 10 years as a city councilman.  Lorna loved to travel the world, spending time with her family and friends.  Her pastimes included her membership in the FIG (Friendswood Investment Group), red hat ladies, and devotion to numerous local causes and charities.  She was a tireless advocate for children, families, and the less fortunate.  Her unselfish love and memories that she created will be cherished by all that knew her.

Lorna was preceded in death by her husband, Edward O. Zeitler and her parents, Edwin and Anna Daley.

She is survived by her sons, Mark Zeitler and Scott Zeitler; daughter in law, Aimee Zeitler; two beloved grandchildren, Matthew and Robin Zeitler; sister, Mickey Bastell; brother, William Daley; nieces, Dena and Lori; and nephew, Kelly; and many family members and friends.

Friends are cordially invited to attend a visitation with the family on Friday, May 12, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Hope Lutheran Church, 1804 S. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546, with Rev. Ralph Hobratschk officiating.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospital for Children in Galveston, TX.

My deepest sympathies and condolences to Lorna's family. She was a dear sweet lady, and will be truly missed. I will always remember her lovely smile, and I so enjoyed visiting with her. I only knew her for a short while but she made an impression with me. I remember the first time I met Lorna was at John and Deborah Brakebill's wedding. She looked so lovely with her red jacket and black hat...she had a face for hats...truly a special lady! God's Peace!

My heartfelt condolences to both of you boys, and all of those who loved your Momma. She had verve and style, and I always loved this about her. I loved her many hats and now wonder if her hats brought me to love them too? She always had a kind word or a loving hug to share. She will be deeply missed by my dear Mother, as Mom recalled the other day "Lorna was one of the very first people to greet our family." Lorna will always be remembered with fondness. She has, in the word's of a century passed: "...Broke loose from Time's tenacious chains, And Earth's revolving gloom. To range, at large, in vast domains. Of radiant worlds to come." Unknown Be at Peace

Lorna was a dear sweet lady who will be missed. Our family has known her for almost 40 years - Friendswood Children's House, vegetable coop and Hope Lutheran Church. She always had a smile on her face. The last time I spoke to her was as we were both at Kroger's. Going to miss seeing her. God's peace and blessing on her family at this time.
