In Loving Memory

James "Jim " Foster Babb

3/23/1936 - 5/1/2017

James “Jim” Babb was born in Abilene, TX on March 23, 1936 to Vada and Jesse Babb.  He attended Abilene High School and graduated from Texas Tech University in Lubbock with a degree in Geology, in 1959.

Jim was a member of the Saddle Tramps and a die-hard fan of Texas Tech all his life.

Jim married Bertha Ann “Buddie” Bellemin from Grand Coteau, LA in 1964.  They have one daughter, Tricia Cegielski and husband Alan; 3 granddaughters, Teale Ann Malone and husband Joey, Tess Marie Horbach and Tehya Noelle Horbach.  Jim loved to be involved in their sports which included soccer, basketball, swimming and water polo.  Most recently, loved supporting Tehya with her show pigs and hearing about all of her Friendswood High School FFA activities.

He had many hobbies.  His passion for reading went beyond measure.  Texas history and mysteries were his favorites.  The kindle saved their house from collapsing from the weight of his books.  Golf, hunting and fishing in New Mexico and Canada were other activities he enjoyed.  He worked with stained glass and grew gourds to decorate.  He was very interested in watching all sports on TV.  Jim also knew his way around a BBQ pit, smoking brisket for church functions and to give family and friends.

What a guy!

Jim also loved traveling and enjoyed their trips to Europe and Asia.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the John Knox Presbyterian Church, 2525 Gessner Rd. Houston, TX 77080.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to either John Knox Presbyterian or Texas Tech University.

Condolences may be sent to the Babb family in care of Jeter Memorial Funeral Home at www.jeterfuneralhome.com.
