Della Louise Prouty

In Loving Memory

Della Louise Prouty

07/16/1944 - 04/13/2017

Della “Dee” Louise Prouty, 72, of Friendswood, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2017.  She was born on July 16, 1944 in Crystal City, Texas to parents, Jimmy and Bennie Weaver.  Dee committed her life to servitude to others and entrepreneurism in Carrizo Springs, Texas where she and first husband, Eddie Svec, owned over five different businesses during their 29 years of marriage. She loved people and in between the times that she was not a business owner, she would serve in local restaurants.  After moving to Friendswood three years ago, she lived at “The Gardens” apartments for senior citizens, where she made many friends and became a caretaker for the last six months.  Her last months on this earth were spent living with her daughter and son-in-law.  She loved animals and especially her dog, Sweet Tea.  These acts fostered her on true love of serving and interacting with friends and strangers daily.  As the ultimate of sharing and kindness, her wish was to donate her body to the University of Texas Medicine for research.

Dee was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Eddie Svec and James Prouty; sister, Bennie McRorey; and brother, Dickie Weaver.

She is survived by her daughter, Melody Wilie and son-in-law Curtis Wilie of Friendswood, Texas; granddaughter, Laney Wilie of Houston, Texas; grandson, Colton Wilie of Austin, Texas; guardian son, Kyron Cobb of Terrell, Texas; sister-in-law, Bernice Svec Stark of Onalaska, Texas; and brother-in-law, Joe Stark of Onalaska, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Jeter Funeral Home Chapel, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77511, with Rev. Larry McRorey and Bill Whitworth officiating.

Condolences can be to the family in care of Jeter Memorial Funeral Home at www.jeterfuneralhome.com.

Miss Dee was a very sweet person that I had the chance to meet and get to know while she attended Oakville Baptist church. My life was blessed by her and I am sad to hear she is no longer among the living, but I am sure she is in a better place with our Lord and will meet her again some day. God bless her loved ones.

Dee was so special. She cared for both Kevin and Kate at different times. We loved her like our grandma. Kevin loved to spend the night with Kyron and visit with her. There was not a child that came into contact with her who did not live her. She was truly an angel on Earth and now an angel in Heaven. We love you Dee.
