Jarryd Austin Morton

In Loving Memory

Jarryd Austin Morton

2/7/1993 - 3/19/2017

Jarryd Austin Morton, 24, (affectionately called Jare-Bear), passed away early Sunday morning, March 19, 2017.  Jarryd was born on February 7, 1993, at Bayshore Hospital in Pasadena, Texas. The firstborn of his parents, Kevin Morton and Lisa Aaser, he is survived by them both, as well as his stepmother Kathy Morton, stepfather Dennis Cox and siblings: youngest brother, Jacob Morton, Ashley, James, and Katlyn Van Matre, and Dylan Cox. He also sadly leaves behind his two precious children, Shia and Brylee. He is survived by his grandmothers Martha Aaser and Joan Blake, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Mary C. (Sue) Morton, and grandfathers, Lou Aaser and Tommy Blake.

Jarryd spent his early years in Pasadena and moved to Friendswood at age ten. As a boy, Jarryd was a self-proclaimed “dirt-bike” kid—he loved extreme sports, lived for the thrill, and enjoyed a good adrenaline rush. Always outdoing his brothers (not without healthy rivalry) with a crazier or more intense trick on the trampoline, diving board, or random rockface, Jarryd loved life and especially the water. He could barefoot ski by age five, drive a jet-ski by age seven, and wakeboard by age eight. Most recently, he enjoyed taking the boat out every sunny, summer day on Clear Lake.  Preferring to work with his hands, Jarryd engaged in various trades: car mechanics, boat and jet ski repair, and the like. You could usually find him under the hood tinkering with what he considered a misguided, mid-life-crisis auto purchase his dad would routinely make. Friendship was important to Jarryd. He was generous, open, and high-spirited toward his friends. Always up for a good time, Jarryd was always ready to kick back, relax, and just chill. He loved a good craft beer (especially from Nobi Public House), inviting his buddies out on the town, and just being himself.  We will absolutely miss Jarryd’s laisse-faire, carefree, mellow, and just plain all-around “chill” approach to life. We love you.

Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with the rosary to begin at 7:00 P.M. at the Mary Queen Catholic Church, 606 Cedarwood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546 with Deacon Chuch Turner officiating.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Mary Queen Catholic Church with Rev. James H. Kuczynski, M.S. officiating.

After the funeral, the family welcomes everyone to a reception at Jarryd’s home in Friendswood, 405 Rancho Circle.

Condolences may be sent to the Morton family in care of Jeter Memorial Funeral Home at www.jeterfuneralhome.com.

A college fund will be set up for his children, Shia and Brylee. For more information, you may contact Kevin Morton at kmorton@hometrust.com.

Jarryd was an amazing guy with a great attitude and character. He had the laid back chill attitude, and not much phased him. Always making jokes and quick witted. I haven't seen him in a while even though he visited the vape shop on an occasion. and always hated not seeing him. Now that he is gone he will be even more missed. Bless you and your family and friends. Much love.

My husband and I had the pleasure of meeting Jarryd about a year and half ago. He would show up at the Cove in Clear Lake and hang out with all of us on the water. He befriended my 10 year old son and would do flips off the top of the boat with him. My youngest had really long hair at the time and thought it was so cool to see a grown up with long hair like him. Jarryd sat on our boat and ate whatever food I had with me (he told me I made the best salsa he ever ate!) and we talked about music. So much of Jarryd reminded me of my oldest son, who is the same age as Jarryd. When I heard what happened, it really hit close to home and I just cried. I cannot begin to comprehend your heartache in losing a child because no matter how old they get, it is still your baby. Our deepest condolences to you, his parents, to his siblings and especially his 2 children. I can only hope that the precious memories you have with him stay strong & close to your heart every day and those memories bring comfort and a smile to your aching heart. Rest in Peace Jarryd….

My prayers go out to your entire family this whole week... your were an incredible friend, father, brother, and son. You lit up every room you walked into and I am so proud I had the chance to grow up with you and be a part of your life for the last 10 yrs. I truly believe you will love through Shia and brylee and continue to watch over everyone from heaven. I have already felt your presence a few times since Sunday and although I am terribly upset that you are gone you still find ways to make me smile. I know your going to watch over everyone from heaven. With all the good you put in the world god should be pretty pleased with the new angel he is receiving today. Prayers and hugs

And I'm beyond sorry for your loss. I can't even begin to comprehend what this must be like for you and I know we all wish we could take this pain away. I love you Jarryd, cuts us a break up there. I briefly had the honor to know Jarryd. He worked at me at my vape shop in Lake Jackson. He drove a long way for little pay. In the short time I spent with him, I recognized early what a good character he had. We talked long after he left and he was my friend. He spoke of his family and friends and the great times he had. I will miss him and my sincerest condolences go out to all that he loved and those that loved him. Rest in peace Jarryd.
